...and my time with Jessica is up.
We want different things out of life right now, we want different things in life... etc etc. We're still on really good terms for those of you who know us both, so no weirdnesses, but yeah, I'm a single guy again.

Hey all,
Just reminding you once again to PLEASE contact your rep and tell them not to use your money to subvert capitalism.
I've created a how-to to contacting your rep here: http://j.oldos.org/bailout.html
Please do this! Your country needs you.

Hey guys, I'm writing this to encourage you to contact your Reps/Senators regarding the $700bn bailout -- a move which could move our country wildly from Capitalism to Socialism.
For those of you in NC, you can contact Senators Elizabeth Dole and Richard Burr by googling for their names.
I've put a template below for you to use:
----
I am, as I'm sure you are, scared for this nation's economic future. However, I believe that more of the same government intervention will not solve the problem, and will, quite frankly, move this country into socialism.
I urge you to vote against the $700b bailout plan. I would like to point out that last time we were urged to quickly support a piece of legislation, we were subjected to having our freedoms taken away by the Patriot act and taken into wars. Please take the time to consider strongly a vote against the bailout plan.

Hey all,
As I said before, I've begun twittering. As the ultimate in laziness, I've setup a script to, every night, pull down my mini-blogs from twitter into a real post. If you comment, etc, I'll still be around to read it.

So, have you missed me? I haven't blogged in an ungodly-long time.
Well, most of you should know by now that I've had some pretty big changes in my life. As of July 21st, I no longer work at iContact or live in N.C.. I took a job with Rackspace's email hosting division, Mailtrust (mailtrust.com), in Blacksburg, VA. I'm enjoying the job, and it's a new and welcome challenge, but I'm really homesick. I miss Raleigh a lot more than I thought I would. Maybe when Jessica gets back in town and I start visiting with her on the weekends it'll help some. It's just so strange to be in an area so unfamiliar after living my whole life within a pretty small (~100mi radius) area.
Well, since I can't seem to keep a regular blog up to date, I'm going to try and do more tweeting now. I'm at http://twitter.com/jayofdoom -- if I can figure out a way to funnel that into here, I will.

Hi all,
I just voted at my local "One Stop" voting location. I'm going to campaign in a second for a candidate I believe in, but first, let me say, regardless of what party you're in, or who you believe in (even if you disagree with me) please vote. Voting is the only way we can fix what's broken in our country. You can vote (in NC) at any One Stop voting location in your county, until May 3rd. Find hours and locations here: http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/content.aspx?i d=17.
Now, for those of you registered Democrats, go Obama, and have fun voting.
For those of you registered Republicans, in the 4th District (Rep. David Price, Incumbent), I wanna talk to you about someone I believe in: B.J. Lawson.
Why I voted for B.J. Lawson:

Why I voted for B.J. Lawson:
- He supports a Federal Balanced Budget Amendment
- He supports abolishing the IRS in favor of a consumption tax, like the FairTax
- He supports free market Health Insurance, and no taxation on health-related expenses
- He believes preemptive war is immoral, and bad foreign policy
- He supports securing the border, while respecting the civil rights of those already within our borders
- He believes the government shouldn't spy on it's citizens, and supports bills that reinforce the right to privacy and protect civil rights

Me and Jessica were talking about schooling today, and I remembered a term paper I wrote for a Political Science class two years ago. It's about idea of liberty vs. security. I think it's probably one of the best writing jobs I've ever done.
I've decided to post it up here to let anyone who cares read it, but secondly, and mostly, to get it on the internet so it'll be preserved forever. I'd hate to lose it.

I poked some at my LJ layout. I think it looks super awesome now.
Also, I now know how to import RSS feeds into LJ. Yaay! I don't have to open up a bajillion non-LJ blogs now everyday to check for postings.

"My world is a flood... slowly I become one with the mud" -- Jars of Clay "Flood"
Update: My landlord called and said he's going to have to replace the entire subfloor in my main living area and bathroom. I'm going to be staying w/Dave until the end of the week.
I come home from Lexington last night... sit down at my computer desk... take of my shoes, and put my feet on the floor. I hear a "slush" sound and feel cold water on my feet. I look backward and see standing water in my main room and my bathroom (I live in a studio apt, so basically everywhere but the kitchen) caused by a leaky toilet. So, last night, from about 9:30p-12:30a I slush around in the cold water, with a contractor my landlord hired, sopping up the worst places of water, moving all of my stuff out of the main room & bathroom into the kitchen, and then pulling up the carpet.
Underneath the carpet, what do we find but /more standing water/. So we clean up what water we can, and I go spend the night at Jessie's.
I've got a wonderful side effect though... apparently being ankle deep in really cold water is a good way to get a cold. I somehow think I got a combination of a head cold and a chest cold. I've been sneezing and sniffling and coughing up really brightly colored stuff.
So, well, yay.
